Page 1 Google Positions Without Keywords In Page Titles
By FTS | June 2nd, 2011When I started out in the industry of Search Engine Optimisation I was fanatical with keyword density, meta keywords, meta descriptions and of course crammed my Page Titles with keywords. Then my only way of acquiring inbound links was with directory submissions. I searched the net far and wide just to find those free online directories to submit websites to convinced that those links will push me up in Google search positions.
It could be that all of the above may have been effective in the back then but I have come to understand that things have altered so much that should I have continued they way I did back then I would have no clients hiring me today to manage their Search Engine Optimisation. Meta keywords have been eliminated from the algorithm entirely by Google and other search engines, craze over obtaining the ideal Keyword Density has been thrown out the door and cramming Title Tags with keywords are almost just a waste of time and so is directory submissions.
Make no error that Page Titles are still and will remain a vital aspect of SEO however it would be beneficial to keep titles descriptive as opposed to cramming them with keywords. The fact is top 10 Google ranking can be achieved without having keywords in the title tags. I have done an experiment to back up my statement.
I own an SEO company in Cape Town and one of my main targeted keyword phrases are “SEO Cape Town” and the other is “Internet Marketing Cape Town”. My website address is www.royalwebmarketing.co.za. What I have done was to insert the words “SEO Cape Town” in the page title but I kept “Internet Marketing” out of the title tags. Yet if you should search Google for “internet marketing cape town” my website can be found in the top 10 results and it is ranked above some others that have the words “Internet Marketing” in the page titles.
This was accomplished purely with inbound links as a result of using article marketing and using the words “internet marketing cape town” in the anchor text of the links I placed in the articles which I have submitted to other websites and blogs. Despite what many think about Article Directories and Article Marketing being absolete after Google’s Panda Algorithm Update this experiment also serves as evidence that link building with Article Marketing remains to be an effective link building strategy.
What is more and may come a surprise to some is that I did not make a fuss about the PageRank of the sites I obtained the backlinks from. Most of the links were obtained from websites with zero Pagerank. So PageRank can also be one of those areas to stop obsessing over. I believe that anchor text placed in relevant articles on other relevant websites or blogs should be the new thing to chase in the world of SEO today. Clearly there must be something to my statement since evidently I achieve top 10 Google positions by using this method.
People that are trying to find more info about the sphere of one way links, then make sure to go to the web page which is mentioned in this line.
