I am emailed on a regular basis by those who want to learn how to generate leads for their network marketing business. As the days go by, these individuals begin generating leads, but somehow their business doesn’t seem to be growing. As I start to explore the challenge with them, everything seems to be as it should. Their marketing is generating traffic and they are seeing leads come in.then comes the dreaded question: “Are you calling your leads?” This is normally followed by a long pause or a string of excuses.

What so many marketers don’t seem to understand is the real reason you learn how to generate leads to begin with. It is simply to give you a chance to speak with a greater number of people. Among the list of frequent objections to network marketing over the years has always been the notion of not having enough individuals to talk with. You may have even heard remarks like these: “I just don’t know that many people” or “I’m not sure I could find enough people who would be interested.” The actual purpose of lead generation is to completely remove these obstacles from the path of the marketer. Instead of trudging through a cold market that is unreceptive to the product or opportunity, the marketer is now working with those who are already demonstrating an interest. The one thing that remains is for you to speak with them and build the relationship.

When you learn to generate leads successfully, you will have plenty of people to talk with about your products and business opportunity. The only thing that will keep you from succeeding here is simply neglecting to put forth an attempt to build a relationship from there. When a lead is produced with a phone number, the individual has a reasonable expectation that you will be calling. The sooner you call that lead, the hotter that lead is for building your business. The more you wait, or if you fail to call, they will grow cold to you and simply move on. The sad part of this story is the realization that they will ultimately end up on someone’s business team and usually it will be the one that took the simple step of contacting them.

I am happy that so many are taking the time to learn to generate leads in their own business. There really is no better way of doing business. I hope that they will be equally as serious about picking up the phone and really connecting with those leads as well.
