1. The Bosses Favorite: You know this person. Always screwing up something, coming in late, leaving their work unfinished so someone else has to finish it. Generally, not doing their job. Then you voice something about this person to your boss and all of the sudden you’re on the “do-do” list.

2. The Butt Kisser: See if you recognize this one. “Oh, I’ll get that for you, sir.” or “ I brought some donuts for you”. Always remembering the Bosses birthday. Comes in early, stays late. Telling your Boss when you did something wrong. A real pain in the butt.

3. The Idiots: Some people, you just have to wonder how they get dressed in the morning. My wife and I were at “Wal-Mart” the other day and were looking for a push broom to sweep the driveway. You know, the broom that you have to push. Well, we walked up and down looking for this thing and we saw one the employees stocking shelves, so we asked her, “Where are the push brooms?” She looked at us and with a smile and she said, “They are in the Genital Supply Section.” We looked at each other and then turned to her and said “Where?” and she said again, “They are with the Genital Supplies, just a minute.” and she walked away and we followed, smiling at each other as we went. She went a few isles down and found one of the other employees and she asked her, “Where are the Genital Supplies?” The girl said, in a shocked voice,“WHAT?” And the girl responded “The Genital supplies, you know, where they keep the brooms and mops and stuff.” And the other girl said “Oh, you mean the janatorial supplies, they are over on the next isle.” The girl had no clue why my wife and I were almost doubled over laughing. Well not really, we were polite and didn’t start laughing until she was gone. We are still looking for that “Genital Supply Section” every time we go toWal-Mart. What a hoot! I know you probably work or have worked with someone like that and can relate.

4. The Drama: Who is with Whom? What she said about so and so? Did you here about what’s his name? Two-faced, back stabbing, ugly rumors, not so ugly rumors. You know what I mean. Drama, Drama, Drama. Will it ever stop? No! It’s what you have when you work in an evironment like that.

5. You Don’t Really Want To Be Here: There is other stuff you would like to be doing. Like napping, watching TV, going to a ball game, hanging out with the little ones, taking a drive, golfing, fishing, knitting (if you’re into that) or what ever else you can’t do because you are “Working for the Man.”

There has got to be a different way. There is.

Being your own boss is possible, using the internet. If this seems scary to you, it shouldn’t be. The internet is still growing and there are a lot of buyers and sellers out there looking for help. The learning curve is somewhat steep, but it can be done.
