How to Find Recipes for Your Mom Blog

Are you scratching your head, trying to figure out how to get more content on your blog without writing all day long? Sometimes it can be hard to come up with interesting topics that your readers are interested in reading. And, how do you attract the search engines to your blog anyway? The answer is “Recipes!” By adding a recipe-of-the-day to your blog, you’ll ensure that you’ve always got fresh, yummy content for your visitors to “eat up”. But, how do you find recipes that you can use? Before I share some of my favorite ways, let’s get the legal bit out of the way.

Recipes are not public domain. There are copyright laws that apply to recipes, especially the directions/instructions and collections. I recommend that you check google for “recipe copyright” to read the full story. Basically it states that recipes can be copyrighted, so you can’t just copy and paste them or type from a cookbook. That being stated, there are other (much easier) ways to get recipes that you can use on your blog.

So, what are the other ways to find recipes that you can use?

Your Recipes

Do you have recipes that you make for your family? It could be meatloaf with a special ingredient or salsa with a twist. Take a look at all of the meals that you have personally invented (or altered).

If so, get them on your computer and use them on your blog.

Family & Friends

Do you have a collection of your mother’s or your grandmother’s recipes? How about your favorite aunt?

Ask your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, etc. to contribute their favorite recipes to your collection.

Hire a Ghostwriter

The second way to get recipes for your blog is to hire a writer. You can usually find a ghostwriter who will create recipes for your blog. If you don’t want to look for a ghostwriter, hit up the local culinary school and see if you can find a foodie who is looking to make some money on the side. Hire that person to type in his/her favorite recipes and you’ll be set.

Private Label Rights (PLR) Recipes

I’ve saved the best for last. My favorite way to get recipes for your blog is to buy PLR or private label rights recipes for your use. Why do I love PLR so much?

You don’t have to write the recipes yourself.

You don’t have to pay the big bucks for a writer.

You can change the recipes as much or as little as you’d like.

You can use and reuse the recipes as much as you’d like. You can even compile them into a downloadable cookbook that you can sell from your site.

You can get tons of recipes for cheap. Some PLR memberships sell them for less than $1 per recipe.

Every PLR service has its own rules, so check it out before buying.

A final tip: I recommend that you edit your PLR recipes so they are unique. Some ways to do this are:

Modify the directions.

Make the title sound more interesting.

Give the reader some additional tips. Maybe a favorite side disk or a way to speed up the preparation.

Now that you know how easy it is to add recipes to your blog, you can get started right away. Your blog will go from bare to bountiful.
